Use the TRI for Tribal Communities dashboard to analyze chemical releases and waste management data
This dashboard provides data about industrial chemical releases and waste management on or within 10 miles of tribal lands. The default view displays TRI data for facilities located on tribal lands. To view data for facilities within 10 miles of tribal lands, excluding those facilities located on tribal lands, select "Within 10 Miles of Tribal Lands" using the Distance Filter. To view data for facilities located on or within 10 miles of tribal lands, select both the "On Tribal Lands" and "Within 10 Miles of Tribal Lands" options in the Distance Filter.
Questions that may be answered about TRI facilites on or within 10 miles of tribal lands using this dashboard include:
- Where are facilities located?
- To which environmental medium are chemicals released?
- How do facilities manage chemical waste?
- What chemicals are being released and/or otherwise managed?
- Which industries operate TRI facilities?

The table below provides a summary of results from other pages in this dashboard. Results are organized by metric and distance filter. Use the Distance Filter to view data specific to TRI facilities "On Tribal Lands" — or — select "Within 10 Miles of Tribal Lands" which excludes those those facilities located on tribal lands — or — select both filter options to view data about TRI releases and waste managenment on OR within 10 miles of tribal lands. See the button at the right for more information.
The map below displays locations of TRI facilities located on or within 10 miles of tribal lands, as well as the locations of federally recognized tribes (including Alaska Native Villages). Locations of tribes are based on EPA's Tribal Area Service (view more information about EPA's Tribal Identification data standard and related mapping services). See the button at the right for more information.
This page provides a list of federally recognized tribes with at least one TRI facility their lands, based on the current selection.
Total releases reported to TRI can be categorized as either on-site or off-site. On-site releases include emissions to air, discharges to bodies of water, or land diposal at the facility. Off-site quantities are those transferred off-site for disposal. See the button at the right for more information.
EPA's Risk-Screening Environmental Indicators (RSEI) model produces hazard and risk estimates based on TRI releases and other information, such as relative toxicity and population, and can be used for screening-level activities. Visit the EasyRSEI Dashboard to explore RSEI information.
Waste quantities reported to TRI are managed through recycling, energy recovery, or treatment methods. Disposal or other releases are also included in waste management quantities. Facilities may report waste management as occuring either on-site or off-site. See the button at the right for more information.
For additional information, visit the TRI Pollution Prevention Industry Profile dashboard.
Waste transfers to off-site locations are reported based on the receiving facility and the method of waste management occurring at the receiving facility. See the button at the right for more information.
Select a receiving state or off-site facility to view individual transfers on the map.

Use the radio buttons on the lower left to switch between the measure for viewing results in each chart. The table at the bottom provides a summary of all measures. See the button at the right for more information.
Source reduction includes activities that eliminate or reduce the generation of chemical waste, whereas other waste management practices (e.g., recycling) refer to how the chemical waste is managed after it is generated. See the button at the right for more information.

The first table below includes information about total releases, waste management, and the 5-Year Waste Trend for each facility. A link to the Envirofacts Summary Report is also provided. See the button at the right for more information.
