EasyRSEI General Report
Summary of Selected Data
Trend for Selected Data
This profile provides an overview of toxic chemical release data reported by TRI facilities in It includes an overview of data from the most recent reporting year as well as trends over time. It also includes a comparison of TRI data to Risk-Screening Environmental Indicator (RSEI) modeling data. RSEI adds important information about relative potential for risk to TRI data by incorporating other considerations like relative chemical toxicity and potential for human exposure.
RSEI scores are estimates of potential human health risk based on modeling of chemical concentrations at specific points in the environment, like in the air around a facility or in the water downstream from a facility.
RSEI uses simplified data for modeling, and this can affects the results. All RSEI results should be followed up with additional analysis before drawing conclusions or making decisions about the potential risk posed to any population. See How RSEI Should Be Used for more information.
Overview of Releases and Transfers
RSEI scores only include direct releases to air and water, and transfers off-site to wastewater treatment and incineration. Other types of releases and transfers may also be of concern, so RSEI calculates RSEI Hazard values that reflect the quantity and toxicity of the chemical.
Top Facilities
Top Chemicals and Industry Sectors
Some of the top facilities in this set reported releases or transfers of chromium and/or chromium compounds, which can be a major driver of RSEI scores. Toxicity can vary widely across the various forms of chromium, and facilities do not report which forms they release or transfer. To compensate, RSEI makes assumptions about the percent of total reported chromium and chromium compounds from each facility that is hexavalent (the most toxic form), using industry-level data from the National Emissions Inventory (NEI) and other EPA data. To the extent that the RSEI assumption differs from what is released by each facility, the RSEI score may be too low or too high.
Waste Managed
This section of the report includes data from Section 8 of the TRI Form R, where facilities report data elements mandated by Section 6607 of the Pollution Prevention Act of 1990. For more information on these data elements, see the "Waste Management Information in TRI" section of the Factors to Consider When Using Toxics Release Inventory Data document.
Facility List
These are the facilities that are in your selected set. Values in the table represent only those releases in your set - the total RSEI value for any facility may be higher when all releases are included.
